When stressing about "Why?" something has happened
Believe "Why Not!"
Instead of "Why Try?" and "I can't!"
Why Not! is my mindset of hope and healing.
When I couldn't walk, I imagined hiking the mountains. When I couldn't read, I dreamed of walking along a lake. When I was unable to watch movies, I could still watch the sunrise. When I was literally unable to paint, I enjoyed splattering paint onto paper.
Music used to help my creativity flow but silence has helped me minimize cognitive fatigue (and dizziness) so I can handle painting longer. I decided to try painting "Why not!" while listening to music, even though I would only be able to paint in small amounts of time. Although the painting took 10 times longer than usual, it was extra special and so worth it!
There is a lot of research that says a positive mindset matters & that success follows happiness rather than success resulting in happiness.
Y also stands for Yet! It takes practice to have a positive mindset but it's easy to add the word "Yet" after stating "I can't ___."
I can't visit my quarantined friends, yet! but I can still call them.
I can't travel abroad yet! but I can plan a local activity (or take a staycation).
I can't watch movies, yet! but I can paint.
I am not healed, yet! but I can make a difference in my community.
It is my hope to change the way people view mental health and brain injuries/diseases by sharing my story of hope and healing through watercolors. Increased awareness leads to understanding, connection, and kindness. See Donate Hope for more info.
ADA Image Description: A landscape watercolor in the shape of the letter “Y”. The painting depicts 3 mountain peaks with pine trees and a lake in front. The colors are warm, earthy tones of terracotta, rose, plum, with green trees in varying hues. Behind the mountains are blue skies with a warm glowing sunset and small fluffy white clouds.
My paintings tell a story of hope, heart, and healing. Every purchase from Artsy Paint is a way to send hope to someone else. A portion of proceeds will be donated towards brain health initiatives. Also, your purchase can make a difference in my personal life as I’m living with a Traumatic Brain Injury myself.
